AMPLYF's Interview with Samyuktha
In this exclusive interview, Samyukhta talks about her projects, mindset, personal goals and transformation that lead to her being the star she is today.
1. When are we seeing Samyuktha on the big screen this year?
Samyuktha: This year is going to be very exciting. Audiences will see me in films that are completely different from each other in terms of scale, emotion, and character arcs. From the grandeur of Swayambhu to the intense world of Black Gold, every project has challenged me in a new way. I’m genuinely looking forward to audiences experiencing these worlds with us on the big screen. Apart from theatrical releases, audiences will also get to see me on the OTT space with exciting projects such as Guvvala Cheruvu Ghat coming to Amazon Prime Video as well.
2. You’ve successfully transitioned from Malayalam cinema to becoming a household name in Telugu and Tamil industries. What has been the biggest cultural or professional shift you’ve experienced during this journey?
Samyuktha: Every industry has its own rhythm, energy, and storytelling culture. Malayalam cinema gave me a very rooted beginning as an actor, while Telugu cinema embraced me on a much larger commercial scale, and Tamil cinema brought its own emotional depth and intensity. The biggest shift has probably been understanding the audience pulse in each industry while still staying authentic to myself as a performer. But at the end of the day, emotions are universal, and cinema connects everyone beyond language.

3. From intense dramas to supernatural thrillers like Virupaksha, your script selection has been incredibly diverse. What is the first thing that needs to click for you when a director narrates a story?
Samyuktha: The first thing that needs to click for me is the emotional honesty of the character. I should feel something when I hear the narration — whether it’s excitement, fear, vulnerability, or strength. If I can emotionally connect with the character’s journey, I immediately start imagining myself in that world. Films like Virupaksha excited me because they combined strong storytelling with emotionally layered characters.
4. You’ve shared screen space with some of the biggest superstars. What is the key to collaboration on sets with the legends, and still confidently portraying your character?
Samyuktha: Working with legendary actors is actually a huge learning experience. What I’ve noticed is that the biggest stars are often the most secure and collaborative people on set. They create a comfortable atmosphere for everyone around them. For me, confidence comes from preparation. Once I truly understand my character and her emotional space, it becomes easier to imagine these superstars as co-actors which then helps me focus on the scene and the story.

5. Having worked across Malayalam, Telugu, and Tamil cinema, have you noticed a shift in how female characters are being written today compared to when you started your career in 2016?
Samyuktha: Definitely. I think female characters today are being written with far more depth, individuality, and agency compared to when I started in 2016. Audiences now want women in films to feel real, layered, and essential to the narrative rather than just existing around the hero. There’s still a long way to go, but the change is visible and encouraging. I feel grateful to be part of this phase where actresses are getting opportunities to portray much more meaningful characters.
6. From the historical world of Swayambhu to the intense action space of Black Gold, the political depth of Guvvala Cheruvu Ghat, and now stepping into the LCU universe your lineup is incredibly diverse. Was this a conscious decision to challenge yourself with completely different genres and characters back-to-back?
Samyuktha: Yes, very consciously. As an actor, I never want to feel comfortable repeating the same kind of role. I believe growth happens when you constantly place yourself in unfamiliar emotional and cinematic spaces. Whether it’s the historical scale of Swayambhu, the intensity of Black Gold, the political depth of Guvvala Cheruvu Ghat, or stepping into the LCU universe, each project pushes me differently. That unpredictability excites me the most.

7. What is the biggest lesson being a public figure and an inspiration to younger generations taught you?
Samyuktha: One of the biggest lessons has been understanding the responsibility that comes with visibility. People observe not just your work, but also how you carry yourself, how you treat others, and how you handle success and failure. I’ve learned that authenticity matters more than perfection. Younger generations connect deeply with honesty, and I think that’s something very valuable.
8. What is a hidden talent or a passion of yours outside of cinema that your fans might be surprised to learn about?
Samyuktha: I think many people would be surprised to know how much I enjoy silence and introspection. I genuinely love spending time understanding people, observing emotions, and exploring spirituality and mindfulness. I also enjoy activities that help me disconnect from the noise and reconnect with myself creatively and emotionally.

9. If you could work with any filmmaker or co-star from any film industry globally next, who would be at the top of your bucket list?
Samyuktha: Globally, I would absolutely love to work with Christopher Nolan because of the way he blends emotion, scale, and storytelling so uniquely. In Indian cinema, filmmakers like Imtiaz Ali, Aditya Dhar, and Mani Ratnam are definitely on my bucket list because each of them creates such distinct emotional and cinematic worlds.
10. Lastly you’ve built a strong presence across South cinema with such varied choices. Fans are now eagerly waiting to see you in a Hindi film too are there conversations happening around your Bollywood debut, and what kind of project would make you say yes to it?
Samyuktha: I’m very grateful for the love I’ve received across industries, and yes, conversations regarding my Hindi debut are happening right now. It’s still in the discussion stage, so I would love to speak more about it once things become more concrete and official. For me, language has never been the deciding factor — the story and the character always come first. Whenever it happens, I’d want my Hindi debut to be something meaningful and memorable.
